Eternal God:
As the north tilts away from the sun,
We turn towards your constant love.
As nights grow frosty,
We toast ourselves in your fiery love.
As leaves fall to earth,
We rest ourselves in your gentle love.
As nature sleeps and dies,
We root ourselves in your life-giving love.
God of the turning seasons,
faithful and steadfast,
fill us with your love, we pray,
and the light of your Spirit;
that we might burn with your praise and glory
in the darkening world.
For the sake of Jesus,
Light of the world.
Amen.

Silence
Let us pray:
(names may be mentioned during a pause after each bidding)
For those in whom the light is fading . . .
For those in whom hope is hibernating . . .
For those who are falling . . .
For those in pain . . .
For those dying . . .
Most holy and gracious God,
shine in this wintering world:
that our lives might be lit
by the light of your love.
Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
May God
bless us and keep us,
and lead us through the darkness
to light and life eternal.
Amen.
