UFO

Mrs. Mabbsonsea held her annual exhibition last week, in our church at Portslade.  As well as some of her own work, there were beautiful pictures by a local calligrapher (Julie Walker) plus quilts by some of Louise’s students.

Some of the work was unfinished, like this bed quilt:

I was sceptical about the unfinished objects (which quilters call UFOs) being shown in an exhibition.  But many of the visitors’ comments were very appreciative of them.  They were ‘inspirational’, ‘interesting’, ‘encouraging’ and, of course, ‘beautiful’.  There were no complaints.

I guess the Sunday Sermon is: We’re all work in progress/unfinished objects, but we can still be inspirational, encouraging and beautiful.  There’s no need for us to stay in the work-box till we’re perfect – we can be exhibited just as we are and we can make the world a better place right now.
